Twenty-second capture: 640 listings reviewed, 23 eligible offers, 3 of 12 qualifying models against a minimum of 6, method ram-usd-per-gb-discovery-v2 unchanged. NO INDEX ROW WAS WRITTEN and series_row_appended is False, so ram-price-index.csv still ends at 2026-09-05 with five rows. NO CAPTURE RAN FROM 2026-09-08 THROUGH 2026-09-12, so this reading follows 09-07 by six days and the gap is stated rather than interpolated. BOTH G.SKILL LINES LEFT: Ripjaws S5 ($595.99 Newegg on 09-07) and Trident Z5 RGB ($609.99 Newegg on 09-07) produced no qualifying row, and no allowlisted retailer carried a qualifying listing for either. The qualifying lines are Corsair Vengeance, Vengeance RGB and Dominator Titanium, the same three that made up every capture from 08-12 to 08-24 before the 08-29 method change. DOMINATOR TITANIUM MOVED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 22 CAPTURES: $649.99 at Newegg on all 21 earlier capture days, verified by enumerating the shipped observations CSV, and $674.99 at Newegg today, up 3.85 percent, same seller and an unchanged listing title, so no retailer swap or part change sits behind it. THE FLOOR FELL ON A SLOWER KIT: Vengeance RGB $529.00 at B&H on 09-07 to $459.99 at Best Buy today, down 13.05 percent, $14.375 per GB. The listing carries a ‘14% OFF’ tag and its title states CL38-44-44-96 on a CL30-labelled line, the defect class flagged 08-24 and 09-02, so the drop is part discount and part substitution toward a looser kit and is not described as a market decline. $14.375 matches the 08-31 and 09-01 floor and ends four captures pinned at $15.312. Plain Vengeance held $489.99 to the cent for a fifth capture (09-04, 05, 06, 07, 13), now at Best Buy, on a C36 kit. NEAR-MISS CHECKED AND BOUNDED: Best Buy listed ‘G.SKILL Ripjaws F5-6000J3238F16GX2-RS5W’ at $589.99, rejected for model_tokens_missing because the title never says S5 although the RS5W suffix names the line. That part encodes CL32 (J3238) on a CL30 line, and accepting it would have moved the count to 4 of 12, not 6. The $509.99 Newegg row under the Trident Z5 RGB query is a Trident Z5 6000 -TZ5K part and was rejected correctly. EXCLUDED COUNTERFACTUAL FELL: the exact Flare X5 part F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5 is $439.99 at Jawa.gg (from $444.99) and $708.87 at MemoryC.com, both rejected for seller_not_direct_allowlist alone; at $439.99 it would be $13.750 per GB, below every accepted observation in the file including the $14.062 of 08-12. The same five model lines qualified on 09-06 and 09-07, so unlike most captures in this series the basket did not turn over. FOUR OF THE FIVE HELD TO THE CENT: plain Vengeance $489.99, Ripjaws S5 $595.99, Trident Z5 RGB $609.99, Dominator Titanium $649.99. ONE ROSE AND IT ENDS THE 09-06 STREAK: Corsair Vengeance RGB $499.99 to $529.00, up 5.80 percent, $15.625 to $16.531 per GB, cheapest seller Newegg to B&H. The 09-06 entry recorded that nothing in the basket got more expensive; today one line did, so that sentence is now bounded to 09-06 in the body prose rather than left standing. THE FLOOR HELD FOR A FOURTH CAPTURE WHILE THE RETAILER UNDER IT KEPT ROTATING: $489.99 / $15.312 per GB on 09-04, 09-05, 09-06 and 09-07, with the cheapest seller alternating B&H, Central Computers, B&H, Central Computers. FOUR OF THE FIVE SURVIVING LINES HELD THEIR CHEAPEST PRICE TO THE CENT: plain Vengeance $489.99, Vengeance RGB $499.99, Trident Z5 RGB $609.99, Dominator Titanium $649.99. Nothing in the basket got more expensive. THE ONE LINE THAT LEFT IS THE WHOLE EVENT AND IT NEVER REPRICED: G.Skill Flare X5 6000 held $499.99 to the cent for six consecutive captures, 2026-08-30 through 2026-09-05, on the same part F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5, then produced no qualifying row at all. No allowlisted direct retailer listed the 32GB kit today - Newegg carried only 8GB and 16GB single modules, and Best Buy, which sold it at $499.99 on 09-04 and 09-05, did not list it. THE EXCLUDED COUNTERFACTUAL, STATED BECAUSE IT COSTS THE PAGE ITS FLOOR: the exact part is on sale today at $444.99 at Jawa.gg and $692.72 at MemoryC.com, both rejected for seller_not_direct_allowlist and nothing else. At $444.99 it would have been $13.906/GB, a NEW SERIES LOW below the $14.375 record of 2026-08-30. The allowlist is deliberate and today it is holding this index floor up. THE ONE APPARENT INCREASE IS THE 09-04 SPEC SUBSTITUTION RUNNING BACKWARDS: Ripjaws S5 reads $499.99 to $595.99, up 19.2 percent, but the part reverted F5-6000J3636F16GX2-RS5K (J3636 = CL36) to F5-6000J3040F16GX2-RS5W (J3040 = CL30). The 09-04 entry recorded the outbound leg as a 16.1 percent drop and called it a substitution rather than a discount; it has now ROUND-TRIPPED to the cent and to the part number. That CL30 part has sat at $595.99 at Newegg on 08-29, 08-30, 09-02 and today, unchanged in eight days. Second published-in-advance reading confirmed, after the Trident Z5 attribution test. Fifth index row published: median $15.625/GB, min $15.312, max $20.312, median cheapest kit $499.99 - the 2026-09-05 row reproduces the 2026-09-04 row field for field, which has not happened before. ALL SIX LINES HELD THEIR CHEAPEST PRICE TO THE CENT: Dominator Titanium $649.99, plain Vengeance $489.99, Vengeance RGB $499.99, Flare X5 $499.99, Ripjaws S5 $499.99, Trident Z5 RGB $609.99. Not one line repriced, so unlike the four preceding captures the median is not disguising movement underneath. WHAT MOVED IS DEPTH, NOT PRICE: eligible offers fell 24 to 21 while the model count held at 6, and the loss lands on the cheapest line. On 09-04 FOUR listings were tied at $489.99 (B&H, Best Buy x2, Central Computers); today only the Central Computers listing survives, the same listing at the same price on both days. The floor held at $15.312 because one of four tied offers remained, not because a price level held - a floor four listings deep and a floor one listing deep are different market facts the index row cannot distinguish. The reported seller moving B&H to Central Computers is a tie-break between equal prices, not a move. THE 09-02 ATTRIBUTION READING NOW HAS A CONTROLLED TEST AND IT PASSED: Trident Z5 RGB 6400 made the same Newegg-to-Best Buy swap on the identical part F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5K and held $609.99 to the cent, where the same swap on 09-02 registered $609.99 to $740.69, up 21.4 percent. Same part, same two retailers, same direction, opposite result; a retailer swap is not a price signal in this series. FLOOR AGAIN SET BY A LOOSER-TIMING PART: today’s cheapest is CMK32GX5M2E6000Z36 (Z36 = CL36) on a line labelled CL30, while that line’s actual CL30 part CMK32GX5M2B6000C30 sits at $549.99 at the SAME retailer on the SAME day, $60 dearer; one of yesterday’s departed $489.99 listings stated CL38-44-44-96 outright. NO CAPTURE RAN ON 2026-09-03, so this row follows 09-02 by two days; the gap is stated rather than interpolated, because a price observation is timestamped and unrecoverable. YESTERDAY’S PREDICTION WAS TESTED AND HELD: the 09-02 entry argued Trident Z5 RGB 6400’s 21.4 percent jump was shopfront attribution, not a price move, and it has now ROUND-TRIPPED on the identical part F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5K - Newegg $609.99 on 08-30 and 09-01, Best Buy $740.69 on 09-02, back to Newegg $609.99 today, to the cent. BOTH CHEAP LINES ROSE: plain Vengeance $479.99 to $489.99 (+2.1 percent, Central Computers to B&H) and Vengeance RGB $469.59 to $499.99 (+6.5 percent, Best Buy to Newegg, and on a different part again, CMH32GX5M2B6000C38 CL38 to CMH32GX5M2E6000C36W CL36). Dominator Titanium held $649.99 at Newegg to the cent; Flare X5 held $499.99 to the cent while moving Newegg to Best Buy. FOUR CAPTURES, FOUR DIFFERENT MISREADINGS OF THE SAME HEADLINE: 08-31 the median fell while nothing got cheaper; 09-01 it held while a kit rose 20 percent; 09-02 it rose 7.5 percent while three kits held flat and one fell 17 percent; today it fell 8.8 percent while both cheap lines rose and the floor went up. dataset_version 1.0.3 to 1.0.4. Seventeenth capture: 560 listings reviewed, 24 eligible offers, 8 of 12 qualifying models against a minimum of 6, method ram-usd-per-gb-discovery-v2 unchanged for a fourth straight day. Third index row published: median $17.125/GB, min $14.675, max $23.147, median cheapest kit $547.99. This is the largest move between published index rows since the gate opened, and it is NOT a market-wide increase. THREE lines held flat to the cent (Dominator Titanium $649.99 Newegg, plain Vengeance $479.99 Central Computers, Flare X5 $499.99 Newegg), ONE fell 16.8 percent (Ripjaws S5 $715.94 to $595.99), and an EIGHTH line joined below the old median (TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB $499.99 / $15.625 per GB, first appearance in this series). THE COUNTERFACTUAL SETTLES IT: without that new line the median would have been $18.625, higher still, so the new kit pulled the median DOWN $1.50 rather than pushing it up. What actually moved is WHICH RETAILER SURFACED. Same parts, same week, roughly a 20 percent spread between the two retailers in both cases. Only Trident Z5 RGB is a clean like-for-like increase. Trident Z5 Neo also rose $509.99 to $619.99 but is NOT like-for-like: yesterday cheapest was part F5-6000J3238F16GX2-TZ5NR and today F5-6000J3036F16GX2-TZ5NRW, a different SKU, and the $619.99 white variant was present at $619.99 yesterday too. That departure drives the median: yesterday the 4th of 7 values sat at $15.937 mid-distribution, today it is gone and an eight-line median averages across a $3.00 hole between $15.625 and $18.625. THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS, THREE DIFFERENT MISREADINGS: 08-31 the median fell while nothing got cheaper; 09-01 it held while a kit rose 20 percent; today it rose 7.5 percent while three kits held flat and one fell 17 percent. FLOOR MOVED WITHOUT A REPRICE: min $14.375 to $14.675 because the $459.99 B&H Vengeance RGB listing left the pool. Sixteenth capture: 718 listings reviewed, 25 eligible offers, 7 of 12 qualifying models against a minimum of 6, method ram-usd-per-gb-discovery-v2 unchanged for a third straight day. Second index row published: median $15.937/GB, min $14.375, max $22.373, median cheapest kit $509.99. Like the 2026-08-31 close and unlike the 2026-08-30 opening, this movement is NOT method-attributable - the same acceptance rule read 7 lines on 08-30, 5 on 08-31, and 7 again today. The two lines that left on 08-31 both returned, which confirms that close was result-pool churn rather than a market event. READ THE MEDIAN WITH CARE, FOR THE OPPOSITE REASON TO YESTERDAY: median, min and median kit price all came back to the cent at 08-30 values ($15.937, $14.375, $509.99), but the market did not. G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 6400 CL32 returned at $609.99 at Newegg, identical listing, price and seller to 08-30. The five lines present throughout held: Vengeance RGB $459.99 at B&H and Dominator Titanium $649.99 flat to the cent, plain Vengeance $479.99 at Central Computers, Flare X5 $499.99 at Newegg, and Trident Z5 Neo held $509.99 while moving Best Buy back to Newegg. On 08-31 the median FELL while nothing got cheaper; today it is UNCHANGED while a tracked kit rose 20 percent. Both are the same defect - a median over a shifting seven-line basket is insensitive to movement at the top of the distribution - and both are why publish_ready stays False. No index row was written and series_row_appended is False, so ram-price-index.csv still holds exactly one row (2026-08-30). Because the method did not change between the two days, this movement is NOT method-attributable the way the 2026-08-30 opening was: the same acceptance rule saw 7 lines yesterday and 5 today. Two lines left the result set outright, and they were the two most expensive ones: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 6000 CL30 ($595.99, Newegg) and G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 6400 CL32 ($609.99, Newegg). No line was added. Of the five lines present on both days, four held price to the cent (Vengeance RGB $459.99, Flare X5 $499.99, Trident Z5 Neo $509.99, Dominator Titanium $649.99) and the fifth moved only because its seller changed: plain Vengeance went $469.99 at B&H to $479.99 at Central Computers, and Trident Z5 Neo held $509.99 while moving Newegg to Best Buy. The cheapest qualifying offer is $459.99 ($14.375/GB, Corsair Vengeance RGB at B&H), the same listing and price as 2026-08-30. READ THE MEDIAN WITH CARE: the median cheapest $/GB across qualifying lines fell from $15.937 to $15.625, but not one tracked kit got cheaper. The drop is entirely the arithmetic of losing the two priciest lines from the basket. That is the failure mode this series exists to make visible, and it is why a median over a shifting basket is gated at six lines rather than published at any count. NEW UNVERIFIED FLAG, recorded rather than corrected: that listing is model CMH32GX5M2B6000C38, a CL38 part, while the line it satisfies is labelled CL30. Its CL30 siblings all sit at $619.99. The headline number is therefore set by a looser-timing kit than the line name implies.
• 2026-08-23 — Eleventh capture: 716 listings reviewed, 16 eligible offers, still 3 of 12 qualifying models; cheapest qualifying offer flat at $459.99 ($14.375/GB, B&H) for a sixth day, unchanged since 2026-08-18. Second consecutive capture with the plain Vengeance line’s excluded_tokens active, and the fix reproduced: 0 of its 7 rows are RGB-titled and it held independently at $479.99 ($15.00/GB, Central Computers, same listing as 2026-08-22). • 2026-08-22 — Tenth capture: 624 listings reviewed, 17 eligible offers, still 3 of 12 qualifying models; cheapest qualifying offer flat at $459.99 ($14.375/GB, B&H) since 2026-08-18. First capture taken with the plain Vengeance line’s excluded_tokens active: 0 of its 9 rows are RGB-titled, versus 5 of 13 on 2026-08-21, and the line now prices independently at $479.99 ($15.00/GB, Central Computers) rather than echoing the RGB line’s B&H listing. Prose resynced in the same commit as the capture, so the page does not trail the table it renders.
• 2026-08-21 — Data-quality correction, prospective: the plain Corsair Vengeance line’s match tokens were a subset of the RGB line’s, so RGB-titled listings could satisfy the plain line — on 2026-08-21, 5 of its 13 rows (including its cheapest) were RGB listings; the true cheapest non-RGB plain-line offer that day was $479.99. Captures from 2026-08-18 through 2026-08-21 may carry the same contamination on that one line. The collector now rejects excluded tokens (regression-tested); rows from 2026-08-22 are clean. Historical rows are retained as captured rather than rewritten.
