How the site is researched, written, and corrected

TechFuel HQ is owned and edited by Lowell K. Wood IV from St. Louis County, Missouri. This page sets out the publication’s source standards and correction process.

Who writes here

The LK Wood IV byline identifies the publisher responsible for the article and its corrections. Each article’s experience statements and named sources establish which hardware was personally tested. Biographical detail and contact information live on the author page.

How sourcing works

Performance figures, prices, power readings, and specifications must identify their basis: manufacturer documentation, the publication that performed the test, or TechFuelHQ’s own work. A specification is labeled as a specification. Published first-party results stand with or without a saved file on the site. Third-party figures need a named source, and dated prices need their seller and capture date. Unsupported figures are left out.

The site does not invent numbers, does not present manufacturer marketing copy as test results, and does not borrow a third party’s benchmarks and pass them off as original testing. Articles that rely on third-party data name their sources inline.

First-party data vs. cited data

From 2024 through early 2026 the operator ran a home test bench in St. Louis County — measuring idle power at the wall, logging thermals under sustained load, and benchmarking hardware bought at retail. Most of that gear has since been sold or retired. The site is explicit about which figures are first-party measurements and which are synthesized from cited third-party reviews. First-party datasets — most recently the ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC runs — are published with their methodology attached.

Review scope

Reviews can draw on personal use, TechFuelHQ measurements, or research from named external tests. Each article should make its basis clear. A statement about owning or using a product establishes that experience; a performance figure needs its own stated basis. Research-based recommendations should identify the tests or specifications supporting them. The methodology explains these distinctions.

Updates and corrections

Articles are revised in place when a price moves, a product is replaced, a software version ships, or a reader points out a mistake. The site is maintained as a living reference, not a dated archive — a guide is kept current rather than left to drift.

Publication dates should identify first publication. Page-update dates identify material revisions, while source-check dates identify the particular verification described. An update to the layout does not establish that every source was rechecked. Date corrections require historical evidence; dates are not spread across a calendar to make a batch look older.

To report a correction, email contact@techfuelhq.com with the article URL and the section in question. Confirmed corrections are made promptly and reflected on the page. Reproducible reader-supplied bench data is welcome and credited.

Advertising disclosure

TechFuelHQ participates in affiliate programs. Some retailer links may earn a commission on a qualifying purchase at no extra cost to the reader. Pages carrying those links must disclose that connection before the first commissionable link, including one in a source list.

Where a source list links a commissionable retailer page to support a dated price or seller statement, the article must carry the same financial disclosure as a recommendation and preserve the seller, exact configuration, and capture date so readers can distinguish a historical offer from a current quote. It also receives sponsored-link treatment. That citation supports what the retailer listed. Specifications and benchmarks use manufacturer documentation or the original test publication. A commission never decides a recommendation.

Independence

TechFuel HQ is independently owned and operated by Lowell K. Wood IV. Relevant sponsored articles and paid mentions are possible only with a clear, nearby disclosure that identifies the sponsor. Lowell retains control over topic selection, sourcing, wording, corrections, and publication; a sponsor cannot buy a favorable conclusion, a comparison winner, or a recommendation. A sponsor’s draft is not published under an independent editorial byline without an accurate account of its role. Paid promotional links use rel="sponsored" and may also use nofollow; followed links are not for sale. No commission, brand partnership, or advertiser influences which product wins a comparison.
