How GPUs are evaluated here

A GPU is judged at the resolution it is actually built for. A 1080p card, a 1440p card, and a 4K card are different buys, and a frame-rate number that looks strong at one resolution can be meaningless at another — so each card is assessed at its real target tier rather than against a single blended average.

Within that tier, rasterization and ray tracing are weighed separately. Most buyers lean one way: a competitive-shooter player is buying raster frame rates and 1% lows, while a single-player path-tracing player is buying ray tracing and upscaling. Collapsing both into one “average FPS” hides the decision that actually matters, so the two are kept apart in every verdict.

Upscaling is treated as part of the card, not a footnote. DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation on the NVIDIA side and FSR 4 / AFMF 2 on the AMD side change the value math at every price point, so they are evaluated as configured — with image-quality caveats stated plainly rather than hidden behind an “on” switch.

Power and thermals factor into the verdict, not just the spec table: idle and load draw, transient spikes, and the cooler’s real acoustics all bear on whether a card earns its price.
